Greetings,

We're about to do a very simple netreg implementation with POP3 authentication,
and were wondering if anyone else has coded an optional way around the
authentication for just guests and visitors so they get a temporary lease
(before we re-invent the wheel). What we're thinking is there'd be 3 address
pools in dhcpd.conf instead of 2; the third being for unauthenticated,
registered guest users with an 8 hour lease (or whatever). This would cover
guests and visitors coming to the campus, i.e. vendors giving presentations on
their laptops, etc.

Is it easier to just extend the 120 second lease on the pool of unregistered
addresses to 8 hours and fully route it?

TIA
-Tim

p.s. We had a heck of a time getting the POP3Client perl module to work with 3
different POP3 servers in a test setup. We ended up modifying the default
authentication method from BEST to PASS to get it working.
