Problem solved.

Solution: The apache error file size in the 2Gig range which was causing apache to kill itself...at least when the file was archived, removed then touched apache worked fine. Sorry the for inconvenience. Perhaps this will help someone in a similar situation.

Hello,

I am having problems with httpd again. I'm not sure what happend, but when I arrived at work this morning, there were several complaints that students could not register their machiens. The server was up and all the processes which needed to be running were running with the exception of httpd. I tried starting httpd in several ways such as:

service httpd start
/path/to/apache/bin/apachectl start
/path/to/apache/bin/apachectl startssl

Apaches says it started fine but when I do a ps -A, httpd is no where to be found. The log (var/log/messages) do not tell me that apache shutdown, the only messages I see (regarding httpd) are that it started up.

This is not a certificate problem as before, because neither start or startssl work with the apachectl command, well they say they started the process, but the process is not there seconds later when I do a ps -A. Could httpd be starting up, then shutting down?

Has this or something similar happend to anyone out there? If so, I need your advice because I am at a lost. If not, if you have any pointers that would be great too. Like I said, I'm at a lost and in need of help from the netreg community.

Thank you for your help in advance.
