Hello,
I'm doing some research for Wellesley college on whether Netreg would be a
useful tool to implement here. We'd primarily want to use it to be able
to track infected computers (and keep infected ones from joining the
network by scanning at initial registration) and catch DMCA violations.
I'm curious to hear about experiences from other IT people at schools of
similar size (about 2500 students).
And I have a few questions:
1) Have you tried other DHCP-registration tools? If so, why did you
choose Netreg?
2) What other viable DHCP-registration tools are there? Are there any
comparisons on the net somewhere?
3) In general, how much personal customization was needed to adapt Netreg
to your campus network?
4) What sort of setup do you have? Did you use a dedicated machine for
Netreg?
Wellesley has an interesting network configuration: It's all the same
subnet. Would this affect Netreg?
cheers, and thanks for you responses,
Cory Forsyth
