If you authenticate against a POP, IMAP, or FTP server, everything would
be in plain text. But this is no different than using those same services
from your desktop.
You can set up POP, IMAP, and FTP to use secure connections. You would
have to write that into NetReg's authentication routine for the protocol
you choose to use (perhaps somebody has already done this, I don't know).
Or write an authentication routine using SSH. If you do this, please
publish it so I can use it.
