I wrote my own admin.cgi, as a result of my extensive modifications
to netreg v1.2 to assign fixed addresses. My admin.cgi can look up by
(fixed) IP address, hostname, owner's user ID and MAC address. It
even does minimal wildcard searches.

The source code here is no longer current for our environment (I've
been doing more modifications this summer), but it should give you an
idea on how I do searches.
