Hello,
We're about to start testing Netreg v2.0 and had hoped to use MySQL. If you
are looking for alpha and beta testers or more help moving the MySQL
support forward, we'd definitely be interested.

I've been working with Netreg 2.0 using PostgreSQL in a test environment for
a couple of months. I'm hoping to deploy it for campuswide use by the end of
the summer. With David Bussenschutt's help all of the PostgreSQL related
bugs we know of to this point have been chased down and repaired. I'm making
some modifications specific to our environment, but I am not having any
problems registering machines. We would love to have some more beta
testers/developers using PostgreSQL. David has published a tarball of the
source at http://sourceforge.net/projects/netreg/.

The current CVS version of NetReg 2.0 has support for Oracle and
PostgreSQL. I have 2 programmers working with Peter and I here at
Southwestern (we're swamped with other projects) who have just started
looking into adding the code to 2.0 for MySQL support. I'm hoping that
they'll be able to move quickly on it, but I don't know if the code will
be available until the end of the summer at the earliest, which won't
help much with those wanting to upgrade NetReg before Fall semester
(Spring to those in the Southern hemisphere :-) like Baron. Postgress
Just a comment in general about NetReg 2.0 though. David Bussenschutt
has done quite an amazing amount of work on v2.0 so far (with some help
not to go unmentioned). If you're fortunate enough to have Oracle
available to you, I would strongly urge you to setup a test environment
and try it out. He has it in production, and is actively developing.
MANY kudos to David!!! If you don't have Oracle, give Postgress a try
(it's free) -- though note it's currently untested (to my knowlege).
