We had no real problems making it work with Solaris 8. Our needs are
somewhat different, so I wound up incorporating a fair amount of
homegrown code (some in perl, some in C). We used Sun's BIND, but
that wasn't necessary, just convenient.
Someday I need to sit down and document the changes I made for this
list. Suffice it to say that we implemented one IP address per
student using a ID number that we get from a secure LDAP server.
The ID number (called the PUID :-)) should never change for a given
individual, and we incorporate in into the host portion of the
DHCP entry. We've got about 10,100 active registrations. Netreg
was an excellent base to build on.
