I would think that would be the easiest way to do it actually. NetReg
(by default -- though some have altered this for their setup) uses the
userid as hostname descriptor in the dhcpd.conf file. We did that
because all userid's on campus are unique and that would work well if we
wanted all hostnames to be unique as well. So, you would just use that
descriptor for your record update. Not having ever run DDNS I don't
know the procedure to set this up, but I know it is documented on the
net and the ISC DHCP server docs discuss the DDNS updates.
